Visit Real Pittsburgh Places Mentioned on ‘The Pitt’ 

The Pitt, HBO’s Emmy award-winning medical drama, has become must-watch TV this year, as it airs its second season. While the series rarely shows life beyond the four walls of the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, it puts our city front-and-center through its characters and storylines. 

For pop culture enthusiasts who want to explore the city that Dr. Robby, nurse Dana, and the rest of the PTMC crew call home, we’ve put together a map of some real places you can visit that have been mentioned on the show.

Wholey's Market

1711 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222

Pronounced “Wool-ies” by locals (not “Hole-ees,” as Dr. Langdon says in season 1), this fish market has been selling seafood in the Strip District for over 50 years. Shoppers who stop in can also enjoy lobster rolls and other prepared foods. While in the neighborhood, stop by The Terminal for a plethora of shops and the free Pittsburgh Walk of Fame.

Rivers Casino

777 Casino Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15212

Friendly bets are a favorite pass-time for PTMC staff, so it’s no surprise that Dana quips “This is a hospital, not Rivers Casino,” in season 1. Rivers Casino is an entertainment option on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, offering an attached hotel, live entertainment and games of chance, making it the perfect place to stop in before or after a Steelers or Pirates game at Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park, respectively.

Altius

1230 Grandview Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15211

In season 1, Dr. Javadi and Dr. McKay treat a patient who is the sommelier at Altius, a restaurant that Javadi says is “supposed to be amazing.” You can check out the food, wine, and view at this fine-dining restaurant for yourself; we recommend taking the Duquesne Incline to get there.

Primanti Bros.

46 18th Street, Pittsburgh, PA

It wouldn't be a show based in Pittsburgh if it didn't mention this one. Famous for serving sandwiches with French fries on them, Primanti's is a Pittsburgh classic. While the restaurant has expanded across five states, the original location is still open for business in the Strip District.

Kennywood Amusement Park

Dr. King says that her sister, Becca, loves Kennywood. This amusement park, located minutes from Downtown, combines modern thrills and classic rides, making it perfect for every person in your group. So head to West Mifflin once the weather warms up, go through the iconic tunnel at the entrance, and spend your day conquering the rides. And don't forget to grab some Potato Patch fries along the way!

Pamela’s Diner 

60 21st St, Pittsburgh, PA 15222

Mentioned in season 2, Pamela’s Diner is a popular breakfast spot known for its crepe-style hotcakes and retro decor. Any of their locations is a must-visit, but we recommend the one in the Strip District. Pro tip: get there early, especially on the weekends. And don't forget to bring cash, as Pamela's is known for being cash-only.

De Fer Coffee & Tea

Eagle-eyed fans may notice that Dr. Robby’s travel coffee mug says “de Fer.” This coffee brand is local, and its Strip District location is packed with local products and plenty of charm. The loft and window seats make for great places to perch and watch the world go by while sipping on a delicious cup of coffee. Grab a pastry while you're there, and then another one to-go.

Pino's

6738 Reynolds St, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 

A patient calls this family-owned Point Breeze restaurant “the best Italian in town” while talking to Dr. McKay in season 2. And honestly. we can't blame them for their thought process. The homey vibes makes it feel like you're stepping into your Nonna's kitchen the second you walk through the door, and the food is good enough to fill your stomach and warm your heart at the same time.

Weiner World

600 Grant Street, Concourse Level Pittsburgh, PA 15219

The staff (except for Dr. Langdon) are excited about a “Wiener World truck” that’s outside the hospital on July 4. In real life, Wiener World is a counter-service restaurant that’s a great option for a fast, affordable bite Downtown.
