Valerie June
Valerie June’s distinctive, quivering voice carries songs shaped by Southern gospel, blues, folk and soul. The Tennessee-born singer-songwriter first broke through with Pushin’ Against a Stone, then expanded her sound on The Order of Time and the Grammy-nominated The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions for Dreamers. Her work ranges from the bluesy “Workin’ Woman Blues” to “Call Me a Fool,” featuring soul singer Carla Thomas. June is also a multi-instrumentalist and poet, bringing a singularly personal perspective to American roots music.
