Mat Kearney
Mat Kearney pairs an intimate singer-songwriter approach with rhythmic, spoken-word phrasing and pop-rock hooks. The Nashville-based artist broke through with “Nothing Left to Lose,” followed by the album City of Black & White, which features “Closer to Love.” His later records include Young Love, with the buoyant “Hey Mama,” and JUST KIDS, home to “Air I Breathe.” The contrast between conversational verses and sweeping melodies gives his songs a distinctive, story-driven feel.
