The National Aviary is open to guests daily, except Tuesdays, from 10 am to 5 pm. Timed entry tickets are required and are available for purchase at With enhanced safety protocols and immersive experiences, the National Aviary is excited for your visit!

The National Aviary is home to more than 500 birds from around the world, many of them threatened or endangered in the wild.

Large walk-through habitats, including the newly renovated Grasslands, allow for close interactions between visitors and free-flying birds. Immersive experiences offer opportunities to meet species rarely found in zoos up-close. Visitors can watch flamingos frolic; witness illusive owls spread their wings; and hang out with a sloth.

Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Allegheny County Health Department, the National Aviary has adopted enhanced safety protocols to make your visit as safe as possible. Enhanced safety protocols and capacity limitations allow National Aviary visitors to have an immersive experience as you journey through our lush habitats, interact with our aviculturists as they feed and care for our flock, explore the newly renovated Grasslands habitat, and meet signature species during engaging experiences!
