Built on the site of the former J&L Steel Mill, The Hotel Indigo Pittsburgh University-Oakland is nestled in between Southside and Oakland. This vibrant boutique hotel gives nod to its steel mill past and its high tech existence today. Each of our spacious rooms features plush bedding, spa-inspired showers, ergonomically designed desk chairs, free Wi-Fi, and views of the Monongahela River. Our restaurant and lounge, Eliza, takes its name from the Eliza Furnace that once existed at the J& L Steel Mill. Additionally, our Rooftop Bar and Deck provide spectacular views of Southside, and the Hot Metal Bridge, which carried 180 tons of steel per hour over the Monongahela River during WWII. Our beautiful lobby or adjacent patio is an ideal space for a reception and our ballroom, featuring floor to ceiling windows, is perfect for meetings and social events. The modifications we have made include: Housekeeping. Full service of your guest room will be provided on the fifth day of your stay. Contact the Front Desk to arrange limited service (fresh towels, the replenishment of amenities, trash removal, etc.). We ask for the safety of yourself and staff, that you excuse yourself from your room during service when applicable. Items for your guest room can also be acquired at the Front Desk. Restaurant Hours of Operations. The Eliza Restaurant is closed currently with a tentative open date of August 10, 2020. Fitness Center. Open 24/7 at 50% operational capacity. We ask that you maintain social distancing and sanitize fitness equipment before and after your workout using the disinfecting wipes provided. Elevators. We are maintaining social distancing guidelines throughout the hotel, including in our elevators. Our elevators measure 6-ft x 6-ft, safely accommodating up to two people. COMMITMENT TO CLEAN We take hygiene and cleanliness very serious. You’ll notice several enhancements to our cleaning practices throughout public spaces and guest rooms. These standards include: Enhanced Public Space Cleaning. We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection with extra focus on high-traffic areas such as restrooms, elevators and the front desk. Social Distancing Practices. Signage has been placed throughout the hotel promoting physical social distancing and encouraging guests to stand at least 6 feet apart. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Allegheny County officials have mandated that a facial covering must be worn in all interior public space. Associates are also wearing PPE (face coverings, gloves, etc.) based on the activities they are performing. “We wear because we care.” Guest Rooms. Every guest room is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after 48 hours of each departure. We will provide full service every fifth day. To arrange limited service less than five days, please contact the front desk. All in room service will be conducted while you are away from the room when possible.
