Voted the most important building of the 20th century in a poll conducted by the American Institute of Architects, this masterpiece was entrusted to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy by Edgar Kaufmann jr. in October 1963. Fallingwater was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2019. Open to the public for house tours, Fallingwater is the only remaining Frank Lloyd Wright house with its setting, original furnishings and artwork intact.

Fallingwater is open for guided interior or self-guided exterior tours daily, except Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. mid-March through Thanksgiving weekend. Fallingwater is open on Saturdays and Sundays in December, the week between Christmas and New Year's Day, weather permitting. Visitors are asked to wear masks indoors.

Fallingwater offers a variety of house tours, which includes a one-hour guided house tour, two-hour in-depth tour, brunch tour and sunset tour. Visitors may also purchase a grounds pass to experience the immediate site surrounding the house. Advance ticket purchase is essential for all tours. During periods of high visitation exact tour times cannot be guaranteed.

  • The health and safety of our visitors and residents will always remain our top priorities
  • Our health and safety guidelines follow the directives of the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Health Departments, as well as the City of Pittsburgh.
  • We will serve as a reputable resource for the Pittsburgh tourism community.
  • We will provide you with the most up-to-date information and guidelines so you can confidently move about Pittsburgh.

For everyone’s safety, Fallingwater is operating at reduced occupancy and conducting outdoor-only experiences. Our visitors, staff and volunteers are what make Fallingwater a truly extraordinary place, and their well-being remains our top priority. At the beginning of the pandemic, Fallingwater established an internal task force comprised of Fallingwater’s senior staff, and that group continues to work closely with leaders at local, regional and national cultural institutions and departments of health to establish best practices. All staff have completed training sessions to understand and implement new procedures and sanitation practices to ensure everyone’s safety. We will continue to closely monitor the situation in our region and make adjustments as needed. The safety protocols we have adopted reflect the unique needs of the Fallingwater site. Visitors are required to wear masks and physically distance, and we require reservations to ensure visitation does not exceed 50% of the site’s capacity. To make sure you are comfortable and prepared for your visit to Fallingwater, we ask that you familiarize yourself with all content on our visitor information page. We look forward to welcoming you back so we can share Fallingwater, together. And for those that are uncomfortable returning right now, explore one of our virtual experiences, as well as expanded digital engagement on our website and social media. While we all practice physical distancing, we encourage you to get outdoors to refresh and renew your spirits in nature. We also encourage you to reflect on the value of arts and cultural organizations like Fallingwater and others that will suffer financial setbacks due to the impact of COVID-19. We truly appreciate your consideration of Fallingwater and our counterparts around the world during this very challenging time.
