Pittsburgh theater performances return to the limelight! From the PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh series to immersive theatre experiences and more, there are plenty of opportunities to embrace and enjoy live performing arts in and around the city.
PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh will return this fall! The iconic Benedum Center for the Performing Arts will host eight musicals throughout this year’s PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh season. The series officially kicks off in late October with The Band’s Visit, one of the most Tony-award-winning musicals in history. The season lineup also includes the international sensation Hamilton along with The Donna Summer Musical, Oklahoma!, Pretty Woman: The Musical, To Kill A Mockingbird, Ain’t Too Proud and a season special Beautiful – The Carole King Musical.

The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) also returns to the stage this fall. The upcoming season features five ballets, including a special Season Premiere with the PBT Orchestra. And, the PBT will once again take the stage at the Benedum Center for the beloved holiday classic The Nutcracker, then return with childhood favorite Alice in Wonderland later in the season. A revamped Here + Now, a combination of voices and dance taking place at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center, will feature the world premiere of SKIN + saltwater, created by local choreographer and Artist in Residence Staycee R. Pearl. The season wraps up with Swan Lake accompanied by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at the Benedum Center.
Enjoy live dance during the Pittsburgh Dance Council’s 51st season. Held at the Byham Theater, the season opens with a performance from Pittsburgh native Kyle Abraham’s company, A.I.M, in November. The season continues with the U.S. premiere tour of Far From The Norm, a British Hip Hop dance theater company. Pilobolus and Complexions Contemporary Ballet also are included in this year’s lineup as well as a free season-ending performance by Motionhouse.
Experience immersive arts during Quantum Theatre’s 30th Anniversary Season. Step into progressive theater with Quantum for intimate and sophisticated productions exploring universal themes of truth, beauty and human relationships in unexpected ways. All shows are hosted in special outdoor, pop-up neighborhood locations across the Pittsburgh area and feature modern takes on classic texts and notable people. This year’s season includes the world premiere of An Odyssey, Chimerica and Plano.
