St. Paul's Baptist Church

Brief History

This is the oldest church in Oakmont. It was built in 1874 by the St. Thomas Memorial Episcopal congregation and bought in 1908 by the German Lutheran Church. It signifies blacks' early presence in Oakmont and their attempt to solidify their community and provide an institution for moral and spiritual leadership.
