St. Patrick's Day has always been one of my favorite holidays and this Irish lass will be wearin' me green for the many festivities going on around the city. Hang out at the annual parade, listen to Irish music at the free concerts in Market Square, or do your own Irish pub crawl! The parade and Market Square celebrations are on Saturday, March 14. But there are plenty of Irish bars and restaurants that will be hopping on March 17. I may see you there (look for the gal with the green food coloring tinting her beer!) So put on something green, grab some pals (you don't have to be Irish!) and paint the town green!
Saturday, March 14
St. Patrick's Day Parade- Downtown - 10-11am
If you've never been to the parade you really need to go! It is fun, colorful and festive. There are marching units -- 200 of them, bands, floats, and new this year, the Wells Fargo Stagecoach and its team of horses. It's the second largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in the country.
Irish Family Fest at Market Square - 10am-1pm
Along With Irish Fairin the Square 10am-5:30pm
Market Square is the place to be on parade day! There's a street
party featuring food and green beer and lots of great entertainment and Irish music. A new St. Patrick's Day Parade event with music and fun for the whole family during parade hours. Music from Weekend at Blarneys. Irish dance performances from Shovlin Academy of Irish Dance and the Pittsburgh Ceili Club. Also on hand will be face painters and other street entertainment.
