Pittsburgh Set to Welcome 2022 City Nation Place Americas
VisitPITTSBURGH and Pittsburgh Regional Alliance Partner to Shine Spotlight on Pittsburgh’s Destination Brand
PITTSBURGH – VisitPITTSBURGH and the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance have partnered to host the 2022 City Nation Place (CNP) Americas conference, May 11-12, in Oakland, placing a spotlight on the innovation, development and influence spinning out of one of the city’s thriving neighborhoods.
CNP Americas brings together the leadership teams of municipality, city and state marketing boards - including DMOs, CVBs and EDOs across the USA and Canada - who are focused on increasing economic opportunities for their destinations through a forward-thinking, collaborative approach. Placemaking and destination storytelling are at the forefront of the conference and are used to attract talent, tourism and investment.
“We are delighted to bring the sixth City Nation Place Americas conference to Pittsburgh – a city that demonstrates what can be achieved when the Mayoral team, DMO, EDO, private sector and education sector collaborate effectively,” said Clare Dewhirst, Director & Founder of City Nation Place. “At the conference, we will be talking about how places across the USA and Canada can work together to build an inclusive quality of life for citizens and promote their destination with authenticity and creativity to attract visitors, talent and investment.
“Pittsburgh sets a great example with what’s been achieved already and what’s next in an ambitious plan, and we look forward to learning more with our delegates!”
Set to take place at several educational and cultural attractions throughout Oakland, CNP Americas will provide Pittsburgh with a platform to demonstrate how, through collaborative partnerships, destinations can work together to enhance their brand with businesses, talent and visitors while also strengthening their position within their own community.
“We are honored and excited to welcome the 2022 City Nation Place Americas conference to Pittsburgh this May,” said VisitPITTSBURGH President & CEO Jerad Bachar. “There are so many incredible advancements taking place in Oakland right now, ranging from educational advancements to tech startups and Only in Pittsburgh cultural attractions and experiences that no doubt enrich the lives of visitors and locals alike. We look forward to learning from CNP Americas’ attendees and further expanding Pittsburgh’s overall offerings for visitors, businesses and Pittsburghers.”
“I’m thrilled that City Nation Place is looking to bring its Americas conference to Pittsburgh this spring,” added Mark Anthony Thomas, President of the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance. “I’ve had the opportunity to participate as one of the jurors for the 2021 global conference, which showcased best practices and strategies for place branding and marketing. I was proud then to represent Pittsburgh – which had just completed its own major rebranding in support of attracting business investment and talent. Now with the City Nation Place Americas conference being hosted in Pittsburgh, it will be thrilling to be able to show so many people who are passionate about placemaking – from the perspectives of economic development and tourism – that something remarkable is happening here. Being able to see and experience the best of this iconic region should inspire delegates while being great for Pittsburgh, which is excited to open its doors wide for a very warm welcome.”
