President + CEO Named Chairman of DMAI Foundation

PITTSBURGH - At the annual Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) conference held in Seattle this month, Craig T. Davis, CDME, president and CEO of VisitPittsburgh, was appointed chairman of the Destination & Travel Foundation. His one-year term began on July 18. Mr. Davis has been on the Foundation board of directors for the last three years and a member of DMAI for 13 years. "I am looking forward to working with the board of trustees to advance the many initiatives of the Destination & Travel Foundation, focusing on research and initiatives which will highlight the significant economic power of the tourism industry," said Mr. Davis at the closing session of the conference.

Mr. Davis has worked in the hospitality industry for nearly two decades. He began his tenure at VisitPittsburgh as Executive Director of Convention Sales 12 years ago. Having proven himself as an effective leader, Mr. Davis was promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing and, most recently, to the position of President and CEO in March 2012. In 2002, he became a Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME). The CDME status is recognized within the convention and visitors bureau industry as its highest educational achievement. He also is the secretary of the board of directors for Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh.

The Destination & Travel Foundation is a combined effort between Destination Marketing Association International and U.S. Travel Association, committed to serving the interests of destination marketing professionals and highlighting the impact of travel around the world. The mission of the Destination & Travel Foundation is to enhance the destination marketing and travel professions through research, education, visioning and development of resources and partnerships for those efforts.

The Foundation recently sponsored the "2012 DMO Marketing Activities Study" and has spearheaded or underwritten documents such as "The Future of Destination Marketing" and "ROI of Business Travel."
