NCAA Wrestling Fan Fest to be held at David L. Lawrence Convention Center

Event will feature Wrestling Stars and is Free to the Public during Wrestling Championships

PITTSBURGH - Wrestling fans attending the 2019 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, March 21-23, will have another opportunity to celebrate the sport at the free NCAA Wrestling Fan Fest at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, located only a few blocks northwest of PPG Paints Arena. The NCAA Wrestling Fan Fest, held between sessions of the national tournament, is a great place to experience the energy and excitement of the championships, even for fans who don’t have a ticket to the wrestling championships.

The event is open Thursday, March 21, 3-7 p.m.; Friday, March 22, 2-7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, March 23, 1-6:30 p.m.

“Fan Fest’s primary objective is to provide the ultimate wrestling experience for fans, so we encourage Pittsburghers and our visitors to stop by and find out what all of the excitement is about,” said Jennifer Hawkins, executive director of SportsPITTSBURGH.

USA Wrestling will hold its World Team practices at the beginning of each Fan Fest session, so fans will see some of the biggest names in the sport go through a live workout.

There will also be numerous stage presentations and autograph sessions featuring past Olympic and world champions, NCAA champions and legendary former coaches. This year’s featured line-up includes:

  • 13-time World/Olympic Medalist and NCAA Champion Bruce Baumgartner
  • 5-time World/Olympic Champion and 2-time NCAA Champion Jordan Burroughs
  • 2018 World Champion and 4-time NCAA Champion Kyle Dake (NWCA Coaches Clinic only, no autographs)
  • Legendary 15-time NCAA Championship Iowa Coach and 1972 Olympic Champion Dan Gable
  • Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro and 6-time NCAA Champion Carlton Haselrig
  • World Champion and 4-time NCAA Champion Logan Stieber
  • 2018 World Champion and 3-time NCAA Champion J’den Cox
  • 3-time World/Olympic Champion and 3-time NCAA Champion Kyle Snyder
  • 2018 World Champion and 2-time NCAA Champion David Taylor
  • 3-time World Champion Kevin Jackson
  • 2018 World Bronze Medalist Nick Gwiazdowski
  • NFL All-Pro Bob GolicNFL Hall of Famer Curley Culp

    Fans will also have the opportunity to watch a women’s dual meet featuring USA Wrestling vs. Wyoming Seminary, the Pennsylvania Wrestling Greats presentation, NCAA Semifinals Preview Show and a NWCA Coaches Clinic. There will also be interactive wrestling exhibits, WIN Magazine Memorabilia Show with numerous exhibitors, replays of the morning sessions, a Taste of Pittsburgh food area, a craft beer lounge and much more.
