Trade pub declares venue's food and beverage to be among world's best
PITTSBURGH – The David L. Lawrence Convention Center (DLCC) was named among the "Best Food & Beverage" venues in the world by the Professional Convention Management Association's Convene magazine, the leading meetings industry publication. The David L. Lawrence Convention Center was included in the August "Best in Show" issue, along with The Ritz-Carlton in Istanbul and Waldorf Astoria in Orlando.
"I have held many social events at the DLCC, and their food has always been spectacular," reported Craig A. Hendrick, global account director for ConferenceDirect. "I love how they utilize herbs and vegetables grown on their own rooftop. And they have a focus on locally grown/raised across their menu. Not something you'd expect at a one-thousand-person dinner!"
"Our rooftop is a perfect location for the Chef to grow seasonal herbs and vegetables but our food is so much more," stated Tim Muldoon, general manager of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. "Everything about our food exceeds expectations from the creativity to the delivery."
The dining experience at the DLCC is managed by Levy Restaurants, which uses seasonal products in all of their menus. The chef is involved with the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture's Buy Fresh, Buy Local program, which works with farmers and consumers to promote growing and purchasing locally grown food. "Levy Restaurants' team works very closely with each client to create a menu which guests will remember," continued Muldoon. "The entire DLCC staff is very proud of this award!"
"Convention attendees continue to be impressed with the food service at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center," said Craig Davis, president and CEO of VisitPITTSBURGH. "They're being fed good, wholesome and healthy food, and that reflects very positively on their experience here."
Convene's third annual Best in Show awards recognizes everything from best off-site venues to great room sets. The Best of Show recipients were identified by readers and editors of Convene.
