At its Annual Meeting on Wednesday, March 27, VisitPittsburgh announced the election of four new directors to its board.
"The VisitPittsburgh staff is honored to welcome these experienced professionals to our board of directors," said Craig Davis, VisitPittsburgh president and CEO. "These knowledgeable and dedicated individuals will be able to assist VisitPittsburgh in fulfilling our mission of generating conventions, trade show and leisure travel business for the Pittsburgh region."
The new board members are:
Tracy Certo is publisher and editor of Pop City, a weekly e-magazine and website that writes about the people and projects moving Pittsburgh forward as a as a lively, diverse and livable city. A two-time boomeranger, Ms. Certo returned to Pittsburgh from Los Angeles where she worked in national media sales, with post-grad studies in writing and photography at UCLA. Like other transplants to this city, she is charmed by the many diverse and eclectic offerings of Pittsburgh.
With 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Timothy Hudak serves on the board of directors and as chair of the Business Division and co-chair of the Hospitality and Gaming Groups for Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellot. At Eckert Seamans, he has negotiated thousands of hotel management and franchise agreements, as well as hotel real estate acquisitions and divestitures totaling in excess of $10 billion. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hudak was senior vice president and general counsel for Interstate Hotels where he played a lead role and acted as primary negotiator of the merger for the nation's two largest independent hotel management companies.
Tom Martini is general manager of The Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh, a 616-room hotel that’s connected to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Mr. Martini assumed the top leadership role at the Westin in 2007. He has more than 20 years experience in the hospitality community, with 16 years of experience as area director of sales and marketing for Starwood Hotels of Pa. Mr. Martini currently serves on the executive committee of the Greater Pittsburgh Hotel Association and the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Hotel Association. He received his bachelor's degree in hotel, motel and restaurant management from Penn State University.
Ann Metzger serves as co-director of Carnegie Science Center, a popular Pittsburgh attraction that's dedicated to educating, entertaining and inspiring through hands-on activities related to science and technology. Recently, she also was named interim co-director of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Ms. Metzger joined the Science Center in 2006 as director of marketing and community affairs and was named co-director in 2009. Prior to joining the Science Center, she served as director of corporate communications for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).
