PITTSBURGH -Pittsburgh continues to garner its 15 minutes of fame. To that end, the design of the hot-off-the-press 2012 Official Visitors Guide to Pittsburgh is dedicated to Pittsburgh's own Andy Warhol, the Prince of Pop and the man who put Campbell's Soup cans in museums.
Twenty-four original Warhol designs are incorporated on the cover and throughout the guide, which touts Pittsburgh as a place for Pop Culture. At nearly 100 pages, the guide is packed with information on more than 600 attractions, hotels, restaurants, events and more.
"We are excited to be featuring Andy Warhol's unique artwork on the cover of this publication and throughout our 2012 Pop Culture campaign," said Joe McGrath, president and CEO of VisitPittsburgh. McGrath added that Warhol is one of the most internationally recognized figures, and that his influence has made him one of the most important artists of our time.
To highlight Pittsburgh's place in Pop Culture, the guide book also features references to pop culture "artifacts," including Pittsburgh natives Stephen Foster, who penned "Oh! Susanna," and famed hip-hop artist Wiz Khalifa.
"Visitors will easily find everything they need to know about visiting Pittsburgh in this one-of-a-kind guide," said Mr. McGrath. "The Official Visitors Guide is easy to read and packed with useful information. It features all of the necessary components for a great Pittsburgh experience."
