SkyWatch: Discovering Planets

Celebrate Neptune’s discovery with us! In September 1846, Neptune became the first planet located through mathematical predictions rather than through regular observations of the sky. Explore methods used to discover both solar system planets and exoplanets through two immersive activities investigating hidden object shadows and phenomena like stellar wobble and planet formation. The night also includes a planetarium show and time to explore the night sky from the observatory deck (weather-permitting). Viewing objects include Saturn, the Moon, and binary star Albireo A and B.
