There is no shortage of fantastic local spots to grab a tasty taco – or three – in Pittsburgh! We’ve put together a list of places you definitely need to check out on your next visit.

Baby Loves Tacos


Originally started as pop-up locations throughout the city, the Bloomfield location is the first brick and mortar space for this local favorite spot.  Stop by for the 3 Meats Tacos, 3 Veggie Tacos or the Carne Asada “Queso Birria” Style Tacos. 

Doce Taqueria

South Side, North Hills & Mobile Food Truck

With two locations and a mobile food trucks, the fantastic street tacos you’ll find at Doce Taqueria are easy to get your hands on. The original South Side location is a great spot to grab a bite while checking out the bar scene. Stop by and get yourself a shaved ribeye taco, pollo or carne molida taco.

Strip District

Owner Edgar Alvarez prides himself in bringing authentic Mexican cuisine to the streets of Pittsburgh. What began as a food truck is now a local favorite for delicious, authentic Mexican Cuisine served in a fun, welcoming, casual setting.

Duo's Taquería

East Liberty

Duolingo, known for its language learning app, launched its taqueria featuring Mexico City-style street tacos back 2022 with a small but colorful takeout window along Penn Ave. in East Liberty. Now, diners can experience a sit-down meal and enjoy delicious cocktails alongside Duo’s beautifully-plated tacos – all while being able to flex their Spanish fluency.

La Casa Del Tacos 


This walk-up taco joint in the South Hills dishes out smashable, authentic tacos made with fresh ingredients and a love for all things taco. The shrimp and portabella are must-try dishes here. 

Las Palmas 

Brookline & Beechview

With a location in Pittsburgh’s Brookline and Beechview neighborhoods, Las Palmas Carniceria y Supermercado is a treasured neighborhood grocer offering crushable, authentic street tacos on the go. 

La Palapa 

South Side

Chef José Luis brings his specialized experience in Mexican and Spanish cuisines from Puebla, Mexico and around the U.S. to the streets of Pittsburgh in this South Side restaurant. Together, José and partner Jesus Martinez “share the dream of bringing the real flavors of Mexican cuisine to the people of Pittsburgh.” 

Las Velas 

Market Square, Downtown

Located in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh in Market Square, Las Velas is the first restaurant of owner and chef David Montanez. Born and raised in Mexico City, David brings delectable Mexican flavors to your table. Be sure to check out the shrimp tacos, conchinita pibil tacos or the mahi-mahi tacos.  



A taqueria and tequila bar located in Shadyside, Tacayo is a wonderful neighborhood spot to sit and enjoy a specialty margarita and delicious tacos made with fresh ingredients. Mix and match two tacos of your choice. The carnitas and barbacoa tacos are a must! There are also fantastic veggie options including the cauliflower & portabella and the beets tacos. 


Garfield, Point Breeze & Mobile Food Truck 

Tacquitos boasts that they bring “a mix of pre-Hispanic and Spanish influences perfected over generations by our Mexican family tradition of cooking together” to Pittsburgh. You can find them at the Evergreen Café in Point Breeze, at the regular food truck parking in Garfield and at several mobile location throughout Pittsburgh.  

Taco Town


Located in Downtown Pittsburgh on Smithfield street, Taco Town is a great joint to pop in for some delicious authentic cuisine in the heart of the city. Delicious, affordable tacos are accompanied by beautiful Mexican décor. Be sure to check out the shrimp tacos – and ever-changing daily specials. 


Mt. Lebanon

Affiliated with Tacayo, Totopo is another great neighborhood Mexican restaurant located in Mt. Lebanon, a South Hills suburban neighborhood. With Happy Hour and Taco Tuesday specials, it’s a dynamite spot to sit and enjoy delicious tacos with friends.
