Accompanied by live music from the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Ballet season opens with Giselle. In honor of Terrance Orr's 20th season with the ballet, this production features completely new scenery and costumes while telling the haunting and heartbreaking story of Giselle. This nearly 100 year old ballet features intricate technique and depicts Giselle's journey first to love then into the underworld, a disastrous adventure caused by true love's betrayal.

Don't miss Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre's annual production of The Nutcracker! A loved, family tradition, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre amazes with dazzling scenery, a traditional Tchaikovsky score, and more than 150 talented dancers. Each year the ballet adds more festive features as the audience journeys through the classic story with sugar plums, Marie, the rat king, and, of course, the iconic Nutcracker. Staged in the ornate Benedum Center, this is a must-experience holiday tradition for audiences of all ages!
In February, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre presents the eccentric Alice in Wonderland. This production features classic characters from Lewis Carroll's timeless story, bold illusions like size-changing scenery and playing card tutus, a Tchaikovsky medley, more than 100 elaborate costumes, and, of course, impressively intricate technique choreographed by Derek Deane. It's surreal, quirky, impressive and so much more.

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and the Pittsburgh Dance Council have orchestrated PBT's first cross-company production with the renowned Dance Theatre of Harlem. In an evening of mixed repertoire, the Dance Theatre of Harlem will perform a signature piece while the Pittsburgh Ballet will perform Dwight Rhoden's StrayLifeLushHorn performed with live music by the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra. The partnership culminates with the two companies joining forces for a featured pas de deux.

Watch Romeo and Juliet's iconic and heartbreaking love story unfold with breath-taking ballet. Audiences will be amazed at all the thrills of classic Shakespeare, including extraordinary sword fights and Derek Deane's acclaimed choreography. Artistic chemistry between the dancers combined with vibrant music from the orchestra will transport audiences on a journey to Verona to watch the drama unfold.
The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is dedicated to making ballet inclusive, with PBT being the first professional ballet company to offer sensory-friendly performances of The Nutcracker. Additionally, the ballet also offers audio-described performances for those with visual impairments.
