Watt Street Middle School (now Robert L. Vann School)

Brief History

As one of the first public schools for blacks and whites in the Hill District, this became an important community institution for providing educational opportunities that were otherwise unavailable in the city. Students from this school organized one of the many "sandlot" baseball teams during the 1920s.
