While Pittsburgh today is known for being the Steel City, it was previously known for being the center of the nation’s glass industry. In this hands-on workshop incorporating social studies and STEAM skills, teachers will tour the Glass: Shattering Notions exhibit, learn classroom techniques for analyzing archival materials using collections relating to Pittsburgh’s glass industry, and work with staff from the Pittsburgh Glass CentBooker to create a unique glass tile. All workshops include a classroom resource guide with lesson plans and a boxed meal. Pre-registration is required and space can be reserved online.
