On Saturday October 29th, 2016, Future Tenant’s space at 819 Penn Avenue will be the home to Blind Tiger: A Prohibition Era Spectacular from 6:00-9:00PM. Tickets are $20 at the door or through http://ft-blindtiger.bpt.me/ and inclusive of food and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Beverages are provided by Future Tenant’s generous sponsor, Straub Beer. The space will be transformed into a life-sized Art Deco exhibition that guests can explore. Live 1920s style music by the renowned Ortner-Roberts Duo will fill the room as they enjoy the (legal) alcoholic beverages. Between dancing and enjoying hors d’oeuvres, attendees are encouraged to participate in lively activities including our themed photo booth. The term “speakeasy” is said to have originated near the Pittsburgh area to describe an unlicensed bar in the latter 1800s. During Prohibition, speakeasies were sometimes referred to as “Blind Tigers”. Future Tenant is looking forward to bringing back the Blind Tiger to its birthplace for a new generation to experience.
