No matter if you are gluten-free due to an allergy, intolerance, or preference, I'm going to let you in on a little secret -- Pittsburgh is a great place to eat. There are many restaurants in the city that offer options for gluten-free customers, and some that cater specifically to them! I'm about to let you in on a few of my favorites and share my idea of a perfect, gluten-free food day in Pittsburgh. Are you ready? Here we go!

First, breakfast would be at one of my favorites:The Square Cafe located in Regent Square. Although they do not have a separate menu for their gluten-free selections, they are clearly noted in blue diamonds next to dishes that are or can be made gluten-free. Square Cafe is a super hip and fun place to grab breakfast (served all day!) or lunch, (they have some of my favorite french fries in Pittsburgh!) but be sure to arrive early on weekends - they fill up fast!

Marty's Cheese & Charcuterie Board

For lunch, I would stop by Marty's Market, a unique food market, cafe and coffee bar in Pittsburgh. They feature all-natural local meats, GMO-free produce, organic and grass fed dairy, and local flowers, plants, and blended teas. I love their assorted cheese and charcuterie options! They also have some of the best coffee I have ever tasted. After having lunch at the indoor/outdoor cafe, I would stock up on pantry essentials in the adjoined market area.

Some of my favorite gluten-free dinners can be found at Double Wide Grill, which offers an entire gluten-free menu (with more options than some entire restaurant menus)! As their website says, "Double Wide Grill goes to tremendous strides to identify all forms of gluten and gluten derivatives in the foods we prepare in-house or purchase from vendors." I particularly enjoy the tilapia tacos, which are filled with squash, zucchini, red peppers and pickled onions in a tangy sauce. Yum!

Gluuteny Bakery Case

What about desserts, you ask? (Maybe you didn't, but I'm ALWAYS thinking dessert!) Well, I have just the thing for you! Look no further than Gluuteny, an award-winning, dedicated gluten-free and dairy-free bakery with soy free and vegan offerings. You don't even have to live in Pittsburgh to partake - they have an entire section of their website that allows online shoppers to have their products shipped directly to their home! In addition to their fresh baked goods, they also sell gluten-free bread, brownie, cake, cookie, muffin and pancake mixes.

But I'm not stopping there. Here are some other great options for gluten-free dining around the city:
