To ensure the availability of a well-trained workforce, more than 70 technical and trade schools have been established in the Pittsburgh region. Today more than 20,000 students choose Pittsburgh as their location for discovering the fields of graphic design, medical assisting, accounting, game art and design and criminal justice, just to name a few.


External Technical + Vocational Resources

  • Alan Kells Schools of Real Estate

    Offers approved education for real estate licensing and continuing education classes at four Pittsburgh area locations.

  • Art Institute of Pittsburgh

    School of creative and applied arts. Offers a variety of associate degrees and bachelor's degree in media arts and animation, design, photography and video, technology and the culinary arts.

  • A.W. Beattie Career Center

    A monthly ride through Oakland and Downtown aimed at encouraging the use of alternative transportation.

  • Bidwell Training Center

    Located on Pittsburgh's North Shore, Bidwell provides training and opportunities in the high-tech, culinary and medical fields.

  • Brightwood Career Institute

            Career-oriented education is offered in the areas of Business, Computers,             Criminal Justice, Medical, Cybercrime, Office Administration, Fashion             Merchandising, Accounting and Occupational Therapy Assisting. Located in             downtown Pittsburgh.
