Congratulations to Pittsburgh's very own Michael Keaton, Oscar® nominee as "Best Actor in a Leading Role" for his work in Birdman.
The Academy Awards take place on Feb. 22 in L.A., but Pittsburgh will be cheering the loudest to encourage his win!
Not only is Keaton among the flock of leading actor nominees, Birdman is up for Best Picture.
Keaton recently won the Golden Globe for "Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy," The Critic's Choice award for "Best Actor" and Birdman won the Screen Actors Guild award for the most "Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture." Phew! Now, it's on to the Oscars®!
Keaton was born Michael John Douglas at Ohio Valley Hospital in Kennedy Township, just a few miles from downtown Pittsburgh. He began his career at WQED-TV on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood before taking Hollywood by storm in the '80s.
