Good Morning America in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh was a destination on Good Morning America's Big Summer Road Trip!
Pittsburgh was in the national spotlight as Good Morning America’s (GMA) Big Summer Road Trip made a memorable stop in the City of Champions. Hundreds of Pittsburghers, and mascots from the city’s four sports teams, lined the North Shore to welcome Ginger Zee, T.J. Holmes and Tory Johnson, along with the GMA production crew.
The show, which was broadcast live aboard the Gateway Clipper Fleet’s Empress riverboat, featured a segment with Picklesburgh and named Beverly’s Birthdays, a local nonprofit as its "Hometown Hero." Beverly's Birthday provides birthday celebrations for children experiencing homelessness and for families in-need.
In addition, VisitPITTSBURGH’s Pull Up A Chair. You are Welcomed Here. campaign received an amazing plug when GMA Meteorologist Ginger Zee welcomed Pittsburgh into the homes of GMA’s national audience while sitting on our 8-foot parking chair, adding that the chair is a part of VisitPITTSBURGH’s national campaign.
Of course, the show also featured magnificent scenic shots of the city and interesting facts about Pittsburgh, including a nod to our 446 bridges.
Full of cheer, Pittsburghers enjoyed a wonderful, beautiful morning welcoming our GMA guests and shining a spotlight on some of the city’s favorite attractions, festivals and charitable organizations.
