New hotels are opening at an unprecedented rate. Get the scoop.
The former Salvation Army headquarters in Downtown Pittsburgh has been converted into a Distrikt Hotel. This new boutique property brings 185-rooms with a clean and contemporary look designed as a tribute to Pittsburgh and its neighborhoods. Amenities include a full-service restaurant, complimentary hi-speed internet access, complimentary bicycle rental, a private guest-only rooftop terrace, living plant wall and a rooftop garden.
A Holiday Inn is planned along Fort Pitt Boulevard in Downtown Pittsburgh. This 75-room hotel is set to open June 2018.
Concord Hospitality will debut Pittsburgh’s first AC Hotel, August 2018. The 133-room boutique “European-design hotel” will be upscale and urban-inspired, located next to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, along Smallman Street in the Strip District.
A 103-room Comfort Inn is being planned for the North Side neighborhood, along East Ohio Street. Anticipated opening date is March 2018.
The 111-room Hotel Indigo at Pittsburgh Technology Center will be a new addition to the booming Pittsburgh Technology Center, along Second Avenue. A June 2018 opening date is set.
Core Realty, Inc. has plans to redevelop the fifth and sixth floors of the former Macy’s building in downtown Pittsburgh into a 160-room hotel. Even Hotel, a new brand in the city, has an anticipated opening date of October 2018.
A $35-million property is being planned by Rivers Casino. The seven-story, 221-room hotel will be built along the North Shore, next to the Carnegie Science Center. Opening is TBD.
Concord Hospitality plans to build one of Marriott’s “autograph collection” hotels on the property of the Pittsburgh Athletic Association, located at the University of Pittsburgh. The 167-room, autograph brand, is a collection of unique, luxury hotels and the Oakland location would be the first in Pennsylvania. A December 2018 opening date is planned.
A 97-room, seven-story hotel is planned along Fort Pitt Blvd in downtown. No opening date set
The former Washington Education Center on 40th Street in the Lawrenceville neighborhood is being converted into a new TRYP by Wyndham Hotel, an urban lifestyle boutique property. The 108-room hotel will be one of only four locations in the United States. Hotel is expected to open early 2019.
The Moxy Hotel, a division of Marriott Hotels, will be built in the former Saks Fifth Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh. The 174-room hotel will have its own unique character with many rooftop amenities. The sleek, edgy and moderately prices hotel is expected to open first quarter 2019.
A 126-room Home2Suites is planned along East Carson Street in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood, with an opening of June 2019.
