So, after graduating from Slippery Rock University in May 2012, it was only right to move back "to da Burgh" to be with family and my college pals. I'm super big on traveling, especially outside my job as a flight attendant, but it is a little embarrassing to say that it took the slow down due to the pandemic for me to appreciate what's right in my own backyard. Pittsburgh has always been a beautiful city to me.
Before the pandemic, I would always frequent Lawrenceville, the Downtown area, Shadyside and East Liberty, but now that things are slowly opening back up, I find myself wanting to venture into more neighborhoods.

Even though I live right in Lawrenceville, I sometimes treat myself to a hotel stay or two, especially when certain events come to the city. My favorite hotel to stay at is the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown. This hotel has a lot of amazing views of the city and is close to many things in the Downtown area. It also is close to one of my favorite chill spots – Point State Park. I love coming down to the park to sit by the big fountain, or I will set up shop and have a picnic in the grass. The City of Pittsburgh has around 2,000 acres of green space, so there are many places to relax and enjoy the outdoors!Selfcare is a big staple in my life, and I love doing things that make me feel good. So, sitting on a blanket with my book, wine and some snacks while the people around me are hanging out with their loved ones and enjoying the scenery is always a good way to spend my time Downtown at "The Point."

Right before the pandemic, I stumbled upon the cutest little restaurant bar in Shadyside called Con Alma. It's a local jazz spot that has live music every night. I originally found this place online, and the website completely sold me! The ambiance was very romantic, and it looked like a great place to have date night. I was so amazed at how stunning it is in person. They currently have live music Tuesday through Saturday outside the establishment, ranging from Jazz to Latin Jazz. If you love Latin-inspired food, then this place is for you. The food selection is amazing. Not to mention, their cocktail list is impressive. I am a plant mom, so I definitely fell in love with all the plants on their back patio and the low lighting with string lights to match. I am so happy I found this hidden gem.

After being out all day, nothing beats going back to my neighborhood - Lawrenceville. I love living in this area. It's so diverse, and it's a nice mixture of a young and older crowd. There's so much to do on every block. I am fortunate to live within walking distance to everything which makes it easy to get around. A night out with me would start at Round Corner Cantina for happy hour. I love their sangria and the street corn! We would then venture up to New Amsterdam. The atmosphere here is very social, and they play good music. Before heading home, I would stop at V3 to get some pizza to enjoy on the walk back to my apartment. They have the best flat bread pizza.
I look forward to the day when I can frequent some of my favorite places more often because I'm having serious FOMO (fear of missing out)! I love my city, and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
