Being stuck in the house for months and only going out to Home Depot (trust me, we made many trips there) had me looking forward to getting out and seeing the places I love again!
My favorite place to stay while in Pittsburgh is Hotel Indigo right in East Liberty. Hotel Indigo is just minutes away from the Kelly Strayhorn Theater. You can walk to Target, Bakery Square and its many surrounding restaurants to choose from.

I like to think of myself as a foodie, but really I’m just a girl who loves to eat! Nicky’s Thai Kitchen is one of my favorites! Nicky’s has been voted Best Thai in Pittsburgh 10 years in a row and for a good reason – the food is amazing! With three locations, the Northside being my go-to, there is something on the menu for everyone. My husband loves their Cashew Chicken while I am a sucker for their Pad Thai Chicken with spice at level 7. I like my food spicy!

Another favorite place that I’m excited to eat at again is Carmi Soul Food on the Southside. Carmi’s is hands down my favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh! The Shrimp and Grits is to die for and their Turkey Ribs are out of this world. Be prepared to get down and dirty!
One place I can not wait to get back into is PNC Park! Win or lose there is nothing like a summer night watching the Pirates play at PNC Park. There is nothing that compares to the atmosphere, food and fun of cheering on the BUC’s. We are a sports family so any time we can get down to the Northshore for a Pirate game we are so excited.
If you’re looking for something a little different and fun, I have the perfect suggestion! Book a private boat ride along the river with Pittsburgh Pontoons! Last summer I got to enjoy a day riding along the beautiful three rivers with my husband and a few close friends. Pittsburgh Pontoon is perfect for a girl’s day out, a day date or a romantic picnic on the water. They will even take you to a the ball game!
One of the many hidden gems here in Pittsburgh is the Walled Garden at Mellon Park, located in the Shadyside neighborhood. The park is mostly known for the walled garden behind the Pittsburgh Center for Arts building and the Phipps Garden Center. I love going there to relax and read a good book. There is nothing like sitting there with your favorite book on a summer day and just enjoying the view!
