Pittsburgh Summer Heats Up

It's hot in Pittsburgh. August brings along a series of occasionally steamy, and definitely sunny days with temps in the mid 80's. To beat the heat there are plenty of cool outdoor activities to take advantage of these gorgeous summer days.

How about taking a ride one or all of the three rivers? River fun awaits on a kayakpaddleboard or you could even charter a private boat and tour your way.

Here are a few August event highlights:

August 1 Rust Belt Culinary Tour
August 1-2 2015 Regatta at Lake Arthur
August 1-8 PDGA Pro Disc Golf World Championships
 August 12-16 Pittsburgh Style Week

Kidsburgh activities continue even though back to school is just around the corner. Here's a list of fun kid friendly activities for the month of August. Of course it's always fun to gather up the family and spend the day at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG AquariumSandcastleKennywood or at one of the many area museums. Take a ride on the Gateway Clipper or the Duquesne Incline on your way to or from a Pirates or Riverhounds game.

Fraternal Order of Police and Connect Marketplace

August brings two large conventions to town filling our busy city with curious visitors. August 9-13 Pittsburgh welcomes the National Fraternal Order of Police 62nd Conference and Exposition to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in the city where they were founded a century ago. An anticipated 12,000 law enforcement professionals and their families from all over the country are expected to attend.

On August 27-29, Colinson Media's Connect Marketplace takes over the convention center with it's annual education conference and trade show. This event brings together meeting planners and suppliers from around the world and features former president Bill Clinton as their keynote speaker.
