Celebrate Mother's Day in Pittsburgh!

If there's one thing Pittsburgh's got a lot of, it's a love for its family scene. And, while moms are celebrated everyday, it's fun to amp up the revelry on Mother's Day.

From gastro-delights to gorgeous views, there's plenty to do, see, and eat this coming Mother's Day. Here are my top spots for celebrating and pampering Mom.

Fuel for Fun

This Mother's Day, local restaurants are offering extra-special brunches to treat your mom for all of those delicious meals she's made you over the years. McCormick and Schmick's on the South Side is perfect for seafood lovers - and they've got decadent, chocolate-dipped strawberries for dessert. Take Mom to Grand Concourse in Station Square and you'll not only have a fabulous meal, you can stoll along the Monongahela River and snap a few photos. Braddock's American Brasserie will cater to both you and your mom's palette with creative dishes and beautiful plating. And for something hip and cool, Revel + Roost near Market Square has two floors of Mother's Day revelry.

A Walk in the Garden

If you remember talking long walks with your mother, a fun way to relive that is by taking her for a walk through pretty gardens. Phipps Conservatory in Oakland is the best place for this! Not only can you stroll through its scenic rooms and outdoor gardens, Phipps is hosting Brunch in Bloom. With two seating times, the in-house chefs will be offering seasonal flavors with locally-sourced ingredients.

Roll on a River

If you've never seen the three rivers from the water itself, it's really is a sight to behold. There's plenty of options for active families including kayaking and boat rentals, but if you're in for a leisurely trip, Gateway Clipper Fleet will be right up your alley. With brunch, lunch, and dinner meal options, each two-hour cruise is filled with delicious food and stunning views.

The Royal (Spa) Treatment

In my eyes, nothing says pampering like a day trip to the spa. Lucky for us, Pittsburgh's got some goodies. If a multigen day is what you have in mind, esSpa Kosmetika has a Three Generations Spa Day filled with luxurious pampering including an Organic Express Facial, Hungarian Spa Manicure, Hungarian Spa Pedicure, and 60-minute Swedish Massage for each guest. Elliven Spa is offering mom to be services that will help to de-stress and soothe the upcoming mommy in your life including maternity massages and facials will will enhance your gal's glow. And if it's pretty nails she wants, its pretty nails she'll get at The NailSpa where items on the menu include manis, pedis, and a reflexology session.

A Roaring Good Time

On beautiful May days, Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is the go-to spot for families with children of all ages, but on Mother's Day it’s certainly fun to celebrate furry moms, too! There's a sweetener, too: Mom gets in free zoo admission when accompanied by her child.

Happy Mother's Day!
