Director, Multi-Media Design and Production

VisitPITTSBURGH is seeking a highly creative and inspired designer and a proven manager to develop, create and oversee the multi-media design – traditional and digital – and design production processes of internal and external marketing creative. Responsible for marketing and advertising pieces that are on-brand and representative of the Greater Pittsburgh area and is the primary design liaison with outside creative agencies and key department vice presidents.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, advertising, marketing, visual arts or related field.
  • Extensive design and marketing experience.
  • 7-10 years of agency or marketing department experience, as well as strong supervisory experience. Travel or tourism industry experience is preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Exceptional computer skills (Mac and PC platforms).
  • Demonstrated experience in digital design and expert knowledge of these software applications: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Premiere or Final Cut and Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint.
    • Demonstrated understanding of:
    • Color theory and color relationships.
    • Perspective and space relationships.
    • Page composition and grid structures.
    • Print production process, knowledge of production techniques and paper sourcing.
  • Demonstrated ability as a strategic and creative thinker; ability to provide marketable solutions in conceiving, developing and producing eye-catching marketing pieces.
  • Professional self-starter who takes the initiative, collaborates with others, and works effectively on a team.
  • Understanding of developing creative strategy and design execution for different target audiences.
  • Understanding of brand evolution through consistent creative and on-message voice/tone at all marketing touch points.
  • Experience in project and print management, and overall support that comes with working with a small-to- midsize marketing department or agency.
  • Keen attention to detail and focus on quality.
  • Ability to communicate proactively to management and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Travel by air and car, as well as attend special events.
  • Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends as required.

This full-time, exempt position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and supervises one exempt employee. Position offers a salary commensurate with experience and an outstanding, comprehensive benefit package.

National Sales Director

VisitPITTSBURGH is seeking an individual to promote and market the Greater Pittsburgh area as a convention and tradeshow site.

National Sales Directors manage the development, coordination, and implementation of sales strategies and the solicitation of this business in a specified geographic territory and/or for a particular special interests group. This position is responsible for soliciting meeting and convention business from national associations in the Southeast area of the United States, and also from these specific markets, regardless of geographical territory:

  • Social, Military, Multi-Cultural, Religious, Fraternity/Sorority
  • Women's Organizations
  • Government Organizations

REQUIREMENTS

  • Seasoned sales experience, particularly in the convention or hospitality industry
  • A creative self-starter, successfully demonstrating initiative, with the ability to research potential sales prospects and effectively close the sale
  • A committed sales professional, possessing a great deal of creativity and initiative, with time-management and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and human relation skills
  • Able to effectively establish and maintain good working relationships with event planners and local stake-holders
  • Effective negotiating and diplomacy skills, with the ability to effectively relate and communicate with diverse personalities, external groups and internal staff

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management, Business Management, or related field is required. Travel, frequently by air, is required.

Five to ten years background and practical experience in selling, along with the ability to research potential sales prospects, and plan, develop and create new campaigns and strategies to promote Pittsburgh as a destination for conventions and tradeshows.

Seasoned knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. Knowledge of iDSS sales database preferred. Knowledge of social media applications including Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn is preferred.

On-Call Visitors Services Representative

VisitPITTSBURGH is recruiting for On-Call Representatives at three Welcome Pittsburgh locations: Information Center and Gift Shop in Fifth Avenue Place, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and Pittsburgh International Airport.

  • Pay rate is $11.50/hour, not to exceed 1,000 hours per year. No benefits are provided.
  • Positions available effective January 1, 2017.
  • Position is hourly and non-exempt, and must be willing to work weekdays, weekends, holidays and special events.
  • No guarantee work schedule. Transportation to and from work is unpaid.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Extreme patience with the general public, interacting with sometimes confused or irritated customers.
  • Able to listen effectively to discover the root cause of issues and communicate in a clear and friendly way to positively resolve conflicts with customers.
  • Professional, friendly and courteous, and able to perform with grace under pressure.
  • Greet visitors as a front-line ambassador, with tact, diplomacy and behavior adhering to our Code of Conduct.
  • Flexible and ready to execute tasks and duties as assigned, within changing conditions, to meet time deadlines and ensure that goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Retail experience, monetary skills and ability to perform cashier duties and complete sales transactions on a Point-of-Sale system is preferred.
  • Must have current knowledge of the Pittsburgh area and a desire to express excitement while relaying pertinent Pittsburgh information.
  • Computer savvy with MS Outlook, Word and Excel, and able to navigate the internet.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods of time is required.

VisitPITTSBURGH is recruiting for on-call employees in our Convention Services Department. Positions include Registrars, PittsburghHosts, Cashiers, and Information Table Clerks.

No benefits are provided and hours are limited, must be less than 1,000 per year. 

Pay rates according to responsibilities:

  • $10.25/hour for non-computer, non-cashier positions
  • $12/hour for cashier and computer work

Requirements:

  • Prior customer service experience and general knowledge about Pittsburgh and the surrounding area is a plus
