Indiana County

Morning

Begin your day by experiencing a bit of “hollywood magic” at the museum of Indiana’s hometown son — Jimmy Stewart. The Jimmy Stewart Museum galleries highlight all aspects of Jimmy’s life including his childhood, military honors, personal artifacts and displays from every film he was involved in. Relax as you sit in the theater and watch one of his legendary movies or view the biography of his career. Before leaving downtown Indiana, enjoy a driving tour showing Jimmy’s boyhood home, birthplace, statue and site of his father’s hardware store.

Lunch

Travel to the Amish settlement of Smicksburg and enjoy a traditional Amish wedding feast served family style or a tasty meal at one of the quaint shops in town.

Afternoon

Continue enjoying Smicksburg by shopping for furniture, quilts, cheeses, chocolate, art, pottery and Amish-made gifts. A visit to the Windgate Vineyards and Winery for a tour and a taste of the delicious wines will add sparkle to the day. Returning to Indiana, visitors will enjoy driving through the Amish countryside or passing by one of the four covered bridges in the county. Allow time at the end of the afternoon to take a walk or bike ride on one of the trails that wind their way through picturesque scenery.

Dinner/Evening

Indiana has many fine dining facilities with just the perfect atmosphere to relax in before enjoying a show at Indiana University of Pennsylvania or just strolling through the beautiful campus.

Overnight

Re-capture the day while spending the night in one of Indiana County’s hotels, Bed & Breakfasts or campgrounds.
