Although distilled spirits run in the Pittsburgh region's veins, there hadn't been a whiskey still in the city limits since Prohibition…until Wigle Whiskey, an artisan whiskey distillery, opened in Pittsburgh's Strip District in 2011. The distillery is named for Phillip Wigle who defended his right to distill in a tussle with a tax collector and unwittingly helped spark the Whiskey Rebellion, pitting Pennsylvania's distillers against George Washington's troops. Look for Pittsburgh's own Boyd & Blair potato vodka at a local establishment during happy hour.
