05/16/2013 "Try-City Triangle" Teams Up to Generate Tourism PITTSBURGH - Destination marketing organizations from Cleveland, Columbus and Pittsburgh compete for convention and meeting business, but they also collaborate to help each other attract leisure tourists. Because these markets are within driving distance of one another, their residents are more easily enticed to visit the collaborating cities when they work together. Representatives from the cities' official tourism agencies, Positively Cleveland, Experience Columbus and VisitPittsburgh have created the TRY-CITY Triangle, a way to get marketing buzz humming around the three participating cities.

04/30/2013 Penguins Playoffs Means $3.2 million for Home Game PITTSBURGH – Hockey in Pittsburgh just keeps getting better and better. First, there was the hat trick of high-profile hockey events in the city: NHL Winter Classic, NHL Draft and NCAA Frozen Four. And, now, the Pittsburgh Penguins have made it into the 2013 Stanley Cup Quarterfinals.
03/27/2013 VisitPittsburgh Reports Positive Results for 2012 PITTSBURGH – At its 2013 Annual Meeting held today CONSOL Energy Center, VisitPittsburgh officials emphasized the economic impact of travel and tourism, highlighting that visitors to Allegheny County spend $5.3 billion and generate 38,000 jobs and $320 million in tax revenues.
03/27/2013 VisitPittsburgh Announces 2012 Partner Awards PITTSBURGH – VisitPittsburgh announced the recipients of its 2012 Travel & Tourism Partner Awards. The awards, which recognize outstanding contributions to the region’s convention, travel and tourism industry, were presented at VisitPittsburgh's Annual Meeting, which took place at CONSOL Energy Center on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.
03/27/2013 Pittsburgh to host 2014 US Gymnastics Championship PITTSBURGH, PA – USA Gymnastics and VisitPittsburgh today announced that the 2014 U.S. Gymnastics Championships will be held in Pittsburgh for the first time. Scheduled for Aug. 21-24, the four-day competition, which serves as USA Gymnastics’ national championships, will be held at CONSOL Energy Center and tickets will go on sale late this summer. The USA Gymnastics National Congress and Trade Show will be staged at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

01/10/2013 2011 Tourism Spending Up in Allegheny County PITTSBURGH – According to a new report released last month by the Pennsylvania Tourism Office, visitors who traveled to the Pittsburgh region because of conventions, business meetings, or simply for pleasure, created a $5.3 billion influx into the local economy in 2011. The state reports that overall spending by tourists in Allegheny County was up 8.9 percent in 2011 (the most recent year for which the study was conducted) over 2010.
01/04/2013 VisitPittsburgh Leads 10th Annual MLK Food Drive PITTSBURGH – In recognition of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration this month, VisitPittsburgh has enlisted the support of local hotels, businesses and organizations to participate in the 10th annual MLK Hospitality Food Drive. VisitPittsburgh will supply supporting materials such as posters and a “tool kit” to help each organization coordinate their own drive.
