The David L. Lawrence Convention Center, one of the most beautiful and architecturally advanced convention centers in the world, also offers a state-of-the-art technical and communications infrastructure.
It is fitting that the Center was chosen to host SC 2004, an international supercomputing conference that drew more than 7,900 attendees from 45 countries and 45 states. Attendees commented on the Center’s attractiveness, natural lighting and sweeping river views. Exhibitors showcased more than $300 million in equipment and were impressed with the cleanly designed, pillar-free exhibition space. Show organizers lauded the Center’s network infrastructure as the best of any SC conference location to date.
Wired to transmit text, graphics, and higher-bandwidth audio and video to any point in the building using cutting-edge technology, the Center offers wireless Internet in all public spaces. The facility’s voice and data network uses a combination of copper and fiber-optic cabling to ensure 100% availability and provide bandwidth on demand. This cabling infrastructure, coupled with DS-3 links to the Internet or other external systems, guarantees the best telecommunications performance available. Voice and data connections are located throughout all meeting rooms, exhibit halls and the ballroom, and video conferencing is available anywhere in the building. All rooms are fully equipped with custom phone systems, video conferencing, audio/visual/MATV distribution, and high-speed Internet access. Additionally, every room offers individual thermostats and lighting, allowing custom preset comfort levels.
Other features include in-house satellite uplink and downlink capabilities; interactive broadband services and computer-generated text and graphic information screens; and a hybrid fiber-coaxial-copper wire-based broadband system that allows for addressable television displays supporting broadcast and cable television programming, or live content production from within the Center. The ballroom’s 32-foot ceiling features a unique lighting system with more than 1,200 lights, and allows for special lighting and A/V rigging requirements.
The revolutionary design of the Center, coupled with superior technology and outstanding function, make the David L. Lawrence Convention Center the perfect environment for any meeting.
