What was once a shoeshine shop is now 3G Gallery - a collection of art and handmade jewelry located inside the concourse behind the Westin Convention Center Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. 3G (for "three generations") is a dream realized for Coleen Rush. "My family and I have been wanting to open a small gallery for quite some time. We wanted a place to showcase our work and the work of Pittsburgh-area artists. The downtown location attracts travelers as well as those who live or work downtown."
3G Gallery's inventory is ever changing - currently is consists of works by about 20 local artists in a wide range of styles and mediums. Works include photography, oil and watercolor paintings, handmade jewelry, blown glass, dyed silk, quilts and more. The gallery spotlights a different local artist each month and already has generated some interest. The opening on August 10 attracted over 60 visitors, and since then the word has spread.
Anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind item that is "made in Pittsburgh" can find it at 3G Gallery - at prices to fit any budget
