The Carnegie Performing Arts Center (CPAC) is proud to announce its 37th season producing dance and drama classics at the Andrew Carnegie Music Hall in Carnegie. Students at the Carnegie Performing Arts Center range in age from 3 to adult and can choose to be involved in three fully mounted theatrical productions. All CPAC performances are held at the Andrew Carnegie Music Hall, 300 Beechwood Avenue in Carnegie. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. The first offering of the season will be the Christmas classic The Nutcracker presented for two weekends: Friday, November 30 through Sunday, December 9. This classic holiday tradition brings the magical dream of a little girl named Clara and her handsome Nutcracker Prince to the stage. The battle with the evil Rat King and a journey through the magical Land of the Snow are just a few of the adventures Clara has on the way to the Nutcracker’s Candy Kingdom. In the spring, the ballet Snow White will be presented March 22, 23 and 24th. This folktale, made popular by the Brothers Grimm, is the story of beautiful Snow White who is banished from the kingdom by her evil stepmother. Befriended by seven dwarves, Snow White must try to outwit the evil Queen who finds her in the forest and makes three attempts on her life. Cinderella, the Charles Perrault fairy tale, will be the children's theatrical production in the April. Cinderella is a servant in her own home before her fairy godmother magically transforms her rags into a ball gown and a pumpkin into a coach so that Cinderella can go to the ball and meet her prince. Performances will be April 12, 13 and 14. Registration for the 2012 - 2013 dance year will be held on Monday, August 20, Tuesday, August 21 and Wednesday, August 22 from 5 - 9 PM at the Carnegie Performing Arts Center studios located at 150 East Main Street in Carnegie directly across from Papa J’s restaurant.
