There will be 6 workshops, one for each Saturday and Sunday for the first 3 weekends in August 2012. All of the main workshops are presented by nationally recognized artists and are fee-based with all materials and lunch included. Workshops run from 10 am to 4 pm. All extra activities are FREE and run from 11 am - 4 pm culminating with live music each day. There is a free shuttle bus from Excela Health on Pellis Road (first 2 buildings on right from Rt 130) to Greensburg Art Center. (Parking at the center is by pass only). An overview of each of the weekends is as follows: 1. ART FROM RECYCLING Saturday August 4, 2012 - hula hoop weavings of recycled fabric scraps, 5 foot fabric flowers for sale, "treasure" boxes and refrigerator magnets from scraps and beads will tie in with the main relief print workshop with Maura Koehler Keeney print workshop of making textural, colorful prints with collages from odds and ends; 2. ART FOR THE GARDEN Sunday August 5, 2012 - features Master Gardener presentations, plein aire artists painting florals and landscapes; and painting flower pots to tie in with the Raku Clay Workshop with Jim & Linda Winegar; 3. ART FOR THE KITCHEN Saturday August 11, 2012 - includes food demonstrations to complement making embossed serving platters with the Ron Korczynski clay workshop, artists doing on-site food still life painting, and cookie decorating; 4. ART FROM THE EARTH Sunday August 12, 2012 - stone lithography (making prints with stone, grease, and water) is the main print workshop with master printmakers, along with a Tai Chi session, glass etching, creating rock "pets," and marbleizing paper to make pinwheels as auxiliary activities; 5. ART WITH PHOTOGRAPHY Saturday August 18 - decorating clay tiles with photographic images in the Alexis Dillon print & clay workshop is augmented with fascinating models of Camera Obscura (the earliest camera) and Animation Thaumatrope (the earliest "moving" animation method), and 5 foot famous artworks for guests to be photographed in; 6. ART THROUGH CRAFTS Sunday August 19, 2012 - the focus is on craft methods to make finger weavings, tole painting, stamp art, and other craft and artisan demonstrations to complement the main Cheryl Harshman print & clay workshop of making prints from dyed clay
