The Carrie Furnaces, a National Historic Landmark, were the heart and soul of U.S. Steel's Homestead Works. The Carrie Furnaces Hard Hat Tour includes the whole steel-making process, from the Ore Yard where raw materials were stored, to the Cast House, where red hot molten metal spewed from the furnace. The famous "Deer Head," which was crafted entirely from recycled materials found on-site, is also included in the tour. Listen to the stories of retired steel workers as well — our guides!
