FREE Public "Star Gazing" Party Location: Kunkle Park, Washington Twp, Westmoreland County (south of Apollo, PA, just off Rt 66) Time: Beginning at 8:00 pm, weather permitting Date: Saturday, May 12, 2012 The Kiski Astronomers in conjunction with the Lions Club of Washington Twp will host their first spring "star gazing" party on the evening of Saturday, May 12, 2012, beginning at 8:00 PM, weather permitting. Everyone is welcome to attend these FREE star parties. Please visit the Kiski Astronomers Website for a map of the location: http://home.comcast.net/~kiskiastronomers/. There will be NASA Night Sky Network activities prior to dark and then, Venus, Mars and Saturn with its moons and spectacular rings will be visible through our telescopes. We will also be able to view many double stars, star clusters, galaxies and nebulae throughout the course of the evening. People of all ages are invited to look through a variety of portable telescopes set up on the Kunkle Park grounds by members of the non-profit Kiski Astronomers club. The public is also encouraged to bring their own observing equipment and get help using it. Dress warmly, the temperature usually drops quickly after sunset this time of year.
