Tough Art

An exhibition of four, original, interactive artworks that are “tough” enough to withstand kid handling. Play with a giant kaleidoscope, activate a sculpture with your voice and more! This exhibit is supported by a grant from the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Sciences.

The Freya String Quartet plays a program of Mozart's chamber music. For adult music lovers of all ages, Mozart Camp provides five days of music, workshops, and lectures in an adventure with Amadeus. Two gourmet dinners at the Fox Chapel Golf Club include an evening with the company’s founder Mildred Miller. Participants will attend four Mozart in Concert recitals and other exclusive performances of rarely-performed works, in addition to the closing performance of The Magic Flute on July 14.

Factory Direct: Pittsburgh showcases the artwork of 14 established contemporary artists invited to conduct artist residencies in Pittsburgh-based factories. Factory Direct artists will work closely with the management teams and factory workers within their host facilities to plan and execute a new work of art based on the factory’s history, technologies, materials, and/or processes.

GUITAR: The Instrument That Rocked The World

This exhibit features a showcase of more than 60 guitars, ranging from the rare to wildly popular. It includes interactives about the science of sound as well as photography, performance videos, audio, touch screens and the World’s Largest Playable Guitar, certified by Guinness World Records. Plus, live performances by musicians of local, regional, and national note will be scheduled throughout the run of the exhibit.
