The Carrie Furnaces, a National Historic Landmark, were the heart and soul of U.S. Steel's Homestead Works. The Carrie Furnaces Hard Hat Tour includes the whole steel-making process, from the Ore Yard where raw materials were stored, to the Cast House, where red hot molten metal spewed from the furnace. This exhibition provides an appealing survey of drawing styles and techniques from Randolph Caldecott in the 19th century to Chris Van Allsburg in the 20th—with many delightful and familiar artists in between including Ernest Shepard, Maurice Sendak, Tomie dePaola, and Jules Feiffer.
