Factory Direct: Pittsburgh showcases the artwork of 14 established contemporary artists invited to conduct artist residencies in Pittsburgh-based factories. Factory Direct artists will work closely with the management teams and factory workers within their host facilities to plan and execute a new work of art based on the factory’s history, technologies, materials, and/or processes.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania...Henri Matisse’s The Thousand and One Nights, is a large, multi-panel, painted paper cut-out. It is a visitor favorite, but due to its fragile nature, it is only on view for a limited period of time -- from April 7 - July 15, 2012. Impressionism in a New Light: From Monet to Stieglitz, on view at Carnegie Museum of Art May 12–August 26, 2012, presents a robust picture of what Impressionism means in art, displaying paintings, drawings, prints, and pastels by major artists alongside works by many of the most famous Pictorialist photographers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
