US Premiere of new version by Tom Stoppard! A sort of comic Hamlet, Ivanov is overcome with inertia and self-disgust. his wife is dying and he feels nothing. He is drowning in debt and despair, and he does nothing. Is it him? Is it Russia? Ivanov was the twenty-seven-year-old Chekhov's shot at dispatching the 'superfluous man' of Russian literature, and in surrounding him with a brilliantly drawn set of provincial types he created some of the finest comedy he ever wrote.

"Three Sisters" poignantly conveys the lives, struggles, loves and secret desires of sisters Masha, Olga and Irina and their somehwat ineffectual brother Andrei. Set in a mythological provencial town in late 19th century Russia, we see their lives unfold before our eyes.

There will be 6 workshops, one for each Saturday and Sunday for the first 3 weekends in August 2012. All of the main workshops are presented by nationally recognized artists and are fee-based with all materials and lunch included. Workshops run from 10 am to 4 pm. Factory Direct: Pittsburgh showcases the artwork of 14 established contemporary artists invited to conduct artist residencies in Pittsburgh-based factories. Factory Direct artists will work closely with the management teams and factory workers within their host facilities to plan and execute a new work of art based on the factory’s history, technologies, materials, and/or processes.

Want to try your hand at the guitar? Empire Music will offer small-group sessions on the Sonic Acoustic Stage. Try out a guitar or just listen in on some informal instruction.
