Create your own gallery crawl! Wander through Downtown Pittsburgh, where you'll find a myriad of art galleries nestled amid towering skyscrapers.
Experience some of the world's most cutting-edge contemporary art at Wood Street Galleries. A project of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, the Galleries are free to the public and feature multi-disciplinary artists from all over the world.
Get lost in SPACE on Liberty Avenue, featuring multidisciplinary works by local and regional artists who use established and contemporary technologies. Nearby you'll find the Galleries at 707 and 709 Penn, featuring works in various disciplines by local and regional artists. Exhibitions are free and open to the public. Stop by the newest Cultural District gallery, Shaw Galleries, at 805 Liberty Avenue.
See the changing exhibitions at the Society for Contemporary Craft's Satellite Gallery, located in the subway station at One Mellon Bank Center on Grant Street. This gallery is one of the most accessible public spaces in the city. One other location not to miss while Downtown is the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Gallery of Art at 420 Boulevard of the Allies.
Head across the river to Manchester Craftsmen's Guild. The Guild provides a broad spectrum of creative visual arts experiences in two galleries, one on the North Shore and the satellite gallery in the heart of Downtown's Cultural District.
Silver Eye Center for Photography, located on Pittsburgh's South Side, is dedicated solely to the understanding, appreciation, education and promotion of photography as an art form and as an expressive form of visual communication. The Center offers exhibitions, interactive programs, informal gallery talks and artists' lectures with insights into the creative process.
Wander to the eastern neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, just minutes from Downtown, to the 16:62 Design Zone, Pittsburgh's interior design and decor district. Extending from the 16th Street Bridge in the Strip District to the 62nd Street Bridge in Lawrenceville, the 16:62 Design Zone includes more than 100 shops, galleries and artisan studios.
Stop at Gallerie Chiz in Shadyside for a unique experience. This gallery is brimming with unique treasures such as fine art, antiques, jewelry (both artist-made and vintage) and other one-of-a-kind items. In addition to monthly exhibits, the gallery also features hand-made books, funky ceramics, sculptures and more. The Michael Berger Gallery in Shadyside is a contemporary fine arts gallery that exhibits original works of art by internationally prominent and emerging artists and sells them at prices affordable by the average art collector. And, don't miss Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, a non-profit community arts campus that offers arts education programs and contemporary art exhibitions. The Center is where the community can create, see, support and learn about visual arts.
The Friendship-Garfield neighborhood is home to the Pittsburgh Glass Center, the first open and comprehensive glass art studio and gallery in southwestern Pennsylvania. Their Hodge Gallery hosts a variety of exhibitions year-round. If glass art is of interest you don't want to miss the Morgan Contemporary Glass Gallery exhibiting everything glass, from contemporary studio glass to glass jewelry.
The Regina Gouger Miller Gallery, located in the Purnell Center for the Arts on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University in Oakland, spans 9000-square feet across three floors, and offers a variety of public programs and exhibitions.
