Pittsburgh is proud to be the home of The Andy Warhol Museum which opened its doors in 1994 as the largest American art museum dedicated to a single artist. The museum holds an extensive collection of art and archives, over 12,000 creations of one of the most influential American artists of the twentieth century. The museum also spotlights the works of other influential, innovative artists and is a primary resource for anyone seeking insights into contemporary art and pop culture.
This Pittsburgh museum houses a distinguished collection of contemporary art that includes film and video works. Other collections of note include works of American art from the late nineteenth century, French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings and European and American decorative arts from the late seventeenth century to the present. The Heinz Architectural Center is dedicated to the collection, study and exhibition of architectural drawings and models. The Hall of Architecture contains the largest collection of plaster casts of architectural masterpieces in America and one of the three largest in the world.
The Mattress Factory is a museum of contemporary art that presents art you can get into — room-sized environments created by in-residence artists. Located in the historic Mexican War Streets of Pittsburgh’s North Side since 1977, the Mattress Factory is one of few museums of its kind anywhere.
The Frick Art & Historical Center is a fascinating complex of museums and historical buildings located on over five acres of lawns and gardens in Pittsburgh's residential East End. The Center is devoted to the interpretation of the life and times of industrialist and art collector Henry Clay Frick. Exhibitions of fine and decorative art are also presented at the Center. Visitors will enjoy the Frick Art Museum; the Car and Carriage Museum; Clayton, the restored 19th-Century Victorian home of Henry Clay Frick; the Café at the Frick; the Greenhouse; and the Visitors' Center which once served as the Frick children’s’ playhouse.

Located only 35 miles east of Pittsburgh, it’s the only museum of American art in western Pennsylvania.
