If art is your passion, mark your calendars for the last Saturday and Sunday in April to check out Lawrenceville Art All Night—an annual celebration of arts, community and creativity. The 24-hour arts marathon is one of Pittsburgh's most popular arts events, gaining a cult-like following since its inception. Every artist of any skill level has the opportunity to showcase one piece of artwork in the exhibit: no fees, no jury, no censorship.

  • Artists Studio Tours

To highlight the creative process that lies behind a finished work of art, Lawrenceville artists open their work studios to the public several times a year for free, self-guided tours. Finished works will be on display, but the focus is on seeing first-hand the artists' process—the space in which they work, the tools and equipment they use, and the creative steps they take to transform ideas into art. The artists hope that by touring multiple and diverse studios, visitors will experience the artistic spirit that exemplifies the Lawrenceville community.

Whatever night you choose, the food and drinks will be plentiful.

This annual event take place each fall—usually in October. In 2008, the two-day house tour was billed as a history-filled extravaganza with re-enactors, special sites and living history characterizations throughout the diverse neighborhood.

  • Doo Dah Days

This annual event celebrates the life and music of one the most influential song writers in America's history, Stephen Foster, who was born in Lawrenceville. In celebration of Foster's birthday, Doo Dah Days takes place each July in Allegheny Cemetery, the sixth-oldest rural cemetery in the United States. There are always plenty of folk bands that specialize in Stephen Foster era music, educational tours of Allegheny Cemetery (including Foster's burial place), costumed re-enactors and other outdoor activities.

Foster is considered by many to be the world's foremost composer, and is the only person to have written two state songs—"My Old Kentucky Home" (Kentucky) and "Swannee River" (Florida).
