This premier exhibition of contemporary art brings together 35 artists from 19 countries, including a series of large-scale new commissions, Oct 5-March 16, 2014, at Carnegie Museum of Art. The 2013 Carnegie International exists as a conversation among many parts: an exhibition of new international art, an ambitious reinstallation of the museum’s permanent contemporary art collection, The Playground Project, and an engagement with the city of Pittsburgh.
/pittsburgh, a series of community events, deepens this engagement, connecting the ideas and themes explored by artists around the world with Pittsburgh’s thriving cultural communities. Curators and staff join local artists, designers and writers to create gatherings that celebrate the art in Pittsburgh. Meet the people who create The Carnegie International! Curators Daniel Baumann, Dan Byers and Tina Kukielski have popped up all over the city for neighborhood arts events and a series of artist talks from their Lawrenceville apartment. Follow the curators’ blog.
