VisitPITTSBURGH to Host Meeting of Travel Writers, PR Pros
PITTSBURGH - From Toronto to Quebec, and from Saskatoon to Vancouver, Canadian travel pros will be descending upon Pittsburgh May 28-June 1. This marks the first time that the Travel Media Association of Canada will meet in the United States.
With about 200 professionals attending, the group visit is sure to result in numerous travel articles about the City of Bridges - and the Pittsburgh countryside, as well.
"This is an outstanding opportunity for positive exposure for Pittsburgh," Craig Davis, VisitPITTSBURGH's president and CEO. "The ability to bring 75 journalists to the city at one time has phenomenal potential."
This group represents accomplished travel writers and public relations professionals, whose whole business is the travel and tourism industry.
In addition to professional development opportunities, the conference includes sightseeing excursions to a number of Pittsburgh-area attractions, including: The Andy Warhol Museum, Cultural District, Duquesne Incline, Frick Art & Historical Center, PNC Park, Gateway Clipper, Heinz Field, Mattress Factory, Nationality Rooms at the University of Pittsburgh and Phipps Conservatory, neighborhood tours and more.
The Pittsburgh community embraced the potential of the writers' conference by contributing generously to help support it.
"We are very grateful to the many sponsors, whose generous support is helping to make this conference a success," said Connie George, VisitPITTSBURGH's vice president of communications.
The Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh will serve as the host hotel. Among the major local sponsors are: Pittsburgh Transportation Group, PA Department of Community and Economic Development, Fairmont Pittsburgh, Mosaic Corporate Events, Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, Dollar Bank and Heinz History Center.
The Travel Media Association of Canada brings together Canada's most highly respected professional travel writers, bloggers, photographers, videographers and tourism industry experts.
