VisitPITTSBURGH Announces 2015 Travel & Tourism Partner Awards

PITTSBURGH – VisitPITTSBURGH presented the 2015 Travel & Tourism Partner Awards at its annual meeting on March 22 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Award recipients were honored for their outstanding efforts in promoting Pittsburgh through the convention, travel and tourism industry.

VisitPITTSBURGH presented the Communications Partner of the Year award to the Fairmont Pittsburgh This award recognizes partners that aid in VisitPITTSBURGH’s efforts to promote the Pittsburgh region through strategic public relations. The Fairmont recognizes the importance of public relations in promoting Pittsburgh and provides outstanding support to enhance the visibility of the region. As a case in point, Fairmont Pittsburgh provided hotel stays to 75 audience members of The Marilyn Denis Show, Canada's No. 1 lifestyle talk show.

VisitPITTSBURGH presented the Convention Services Partner of the Year award to ColorPerfect Printing. This award recognizes a partner that provided the Convention Services Department with outstanding service for convention clients during their meetings in 2015. ColorPerfect Printing was recognized for its outstanding service in providing quality printing and quick turnaround of printed materials for several convention clients.

Dan Zakraysek of the Fraternal Order of Police received the Conventions & Meetings Partner of the Year Award. This award recognizes exemplary teamwork, dedication and enthusiasm to ensure the success and lasting, positive impression of Pittsburgh-hosted meetings and conventions. Zakraysek successfully lobbied the National FOP to hold its biennial in Pittsburgh, and subsequently served as the logistical point-person among the national, state and local FOP factions, ensuring a successful convention, attended by 6,000 people and contributing an estimated $8 million in direct spending to Pittsburgh.

The Partnership Marketing Partner of the Year Award was presented to Monterey Bay Fish Grotto. This award recognizes leadership, service and dedication to industry colleagues and advancing VisitPITTSBURGH's efforts to market the Pittsburgh region. Overlooking the fountain at Point State Park, this restaurant is the perfect location for visitors to indulge in fine dining and uniquely Pittsburgh views. Monterey Bay Fish Grotto provides meals for travel writers without hesitation; and, in the case of the The Marilyn Denis Show, donated 75 dinners to audience members.

The Tourism Partner of the Year Award recipient is ocreations. ocreations received the award for demonstrating the utmost in creativity and for consistently going above and beyond expectations when designing the Official Visitors Guide to Pittsburgh, as well as retail merchandise for the WELCOME Pittsburgh Information Center and Gift Shop, located in Fifth Avenue Place.
